How students did on the twelveth evaluation on May 11th 2009

Monday, May 11th, 2009

The twelfth evaluation was somewhat different, each student performed two songs, one about a certain person which they have certain feelings towards, and the other should show their singing and vocal skills and capabilities. Michel Azzi was the first to start, followed by Lara, then Tania who expressed captivated feelings about her lover “Micho” and sang “Ya Habibi Ta’ala shoof elli Garali”.

Yahia was next, followed by Abdul Aziz who expressed his feeling and gratidute towards Madam Mary. Bash was next and he expressed feelings towards a girl that he is in love with, but he mentioned no names, it somehow was obvious that he adressed his feelings for princess Lara. Ibrahim Dashti from Kuwait was next, he was extremely emotional expressing his love and respect for his father, specially that he agreed on visiting barhoom at star academy. He cried while singing “Fagadtak” for Hussein Al-Jasmi.

Seventh Evaluation At this very Minute

mohamed Bash with Ibrahim Dashti and Abdel Aziz seventh evaluation

mohamed Bash with Ibrahim Dashti and Abdel Aziz seventh evaluation

The first to go in are the three guys; Mohamed Bash, Ibrahim Dashti and Abdel Aziz Abdul Rahman. We also see Lara Scandar the students’ representative of this week at the theater room, watching her fellow students, evaluating them, and taking notes.

Then its Michel Azzi with Yahia Sweis and Diala Odeh. They do a very good job. Their acting sketch is about a girl manipulating two friends and tricking them by convincing both that she is in love with each! I found Yahia’s evaluation better than the past two weeks.

Nasser and Aya are next where Nasser plays the character of a beggar who sees Aya at the street and asks her for money, while Aya belittles him and treats him very bad. Then Nasser’s performance at the evaluation takes another turn, he forgets all the words, and keeps repeating the same verse over and over again! I guess it is really tough for Nasser this week!

Sixth week Evaluation on March 30th 2009

Monday, March 30th, 2009

This week the students were asked to sing 2 songs, one of their choice and the other is obligatory chosen by the teachers. They had to combine both songs in an acting sketch. Below is a summery of their performance.

صورة اية بالتقييم الاسبوعي السادس

Aya sings a romantic song for Elissa “Law Ma teji” with a sketch of herself singing to her lover over the phone. Then soon after she runs to the living room with a sad look on her face and then tells Serag that she is worried because she knows she didn’t do as well as she should have.

Then Zaher sings a romantic English song by 3 doors down called “I’m here without you” and plays his guitar along. Personally I thought he did a good job.

صورة يحي بالتقييم الاسبوعي السادس

Yahia sings an Arabic song for Fadel Shaker called “Rooh” which tells a story about a lover coming back after years of being away. He also sings to an absent girl through looking at her photo album. But then again, he sounded extremly nervous and he paused a couple of times where it looked like he forgot the words!

Abdel Aziz comes next and uses the cell-phone as a microphone where he sings to a lover the same song which is by Fadel Shaker called “Rooh”. I found him comfortable and his sketch is simple but realistic somehow.

Lara then sings an English song for Kylie Minogue called “2 hearts” while addressing an absent lover whom his clothes are still at her place. She sang with confidence and she seems pretty comfortable.

Then Basma sings Elissa’s song “Law Ma tejy” and she did it a pretty good job. Her voice was strong and she had no short-breath problems with the same song that Aya struggled with minutes before.

Then Serag sings Fadel Shaker’s song, but he messes the words up, he even struggled with his very short-breath. Seraj gives the impression of surrendering to the fact that he is relatively weak compared to other students. It even looked like he didn’t prepare the acting sketch!

Michel Rmeih then sings “Roo7″ for Fadel Shaker. I loved the way he performed the song. I really felt his emotions bubbling. He kept smiling while looking the teachers in the eye. There is a sneaky gesture between Elissar and Wadi’ whispering something to each others while Rmeih was singing. Lets hope it is a positive note. :)

Then it was Khawla’s turn. She sings Elissa’s song “Law Ma teje”. She looked lost and forgot most of the lyrics. She even made it worse when she took out a piece of paper and tried to read the lyrics out of it! She then goes to Nasser and Yahia and cries out of fear of being nominated this week.

Nasser Rapped again in Arabic, but this time with a khaliji accent. I like his confidence and it seems that Mr. Michel Fadel liked it too because he was smiling through out the performance.

صورة تانيا بالتقييم الاسبوعي السادس و اداءها بالامتحان

Tania seemed pretty confident this eval, specially that she sang “Samra ya Samra” with better face expressions compared to other evaluations.

Then it was Michel Azzi’s turn to evaluate the students; he mentioned his own top five students which are : Zaher, Abdel Aziz, Basma, Nasser, and Mohamed Bash.
Then he names the worst student’s according to their performance at the evaluation : Himself, Khawla, Tania, Diala, and Yahia.

Fourth Evaluation Exam – students singing for the mother’s day

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

For the first time in four weeks, we dont get to know the teacher’s comments on each of the student’s performance. The report about the eval only showed an excerpt of each students’ song with no further details about the judgment of teachers. Below is a descriptive picture of the students at their evaluation with some description from our own point of view; I hope it gives you an insight of their nomination results;

Khawla sang “Samheeni” for Jospeh Attieh.
Nazem Sang a Lebanese Jabali song but he was obviously confused and forgot a couple of words
Inass sang “Kan ya ma Kan” but was clearly scared
Aya sang “Set el habayeb” and did a relatively good job
Nasser first Rapped in Arabic a song about Parents’ dedication in raising their children, and later tried for the first time to sing a song “Habibi Enta” infront of teachers. And although he had some issues their, teachers seemed pleased because he made an effort there.
Ibrahim sang a Khaliji song to his Mom as if she is with him on the phone.
Bash composed a song on his guitar, which was pretty innovative
Michel Azzi sang a song with the theme of travelling away and farewelling his mother.

Third Teachers’ evaluation on each student

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Nasser rapped in Arabic a song about war and Palestine.
Wadi’ thought that Nasser is better when it comes to singing on stage where he brings out his energy.
Mohamed Serag sang a patriotic song “Matat Oloub el Nas”.
Michel Fadel thought that although Serag is trying his best to show his capabilities, he is still week and needs more training.
Zaher Sang “Gaza Tonight”
Madam Mary thought that Zaher’s voice is getting better with time. She also said that with him being at the academy, he will be more impressing.

Michel Rmeih sang a song about travelling accompanied with Aya.
Wadi’ thought that Michel’s voice is beautiful but he still performs the song without feeling the words or giving any expression related to the lyrics.

Noura sang “habibi ya kolel Haya”
Michel Jaber thought that Noura is very week compared to other students and when it comes to the stage she doesn’t think right.

Khawla sang a sad Aids-related song
Alissar thought that Khawla is extremely shy which affects her learning abilities.
Basma sang a french song.
Michel Fadel thought that Basma’s voice is beautiful and that she did well in singing french, but he still likes her more when she sings Arabic.

Diala sang “Lolal Malama”
Wadi thought that Diala is not focusing through training nor through lessons which is automatically affects her singing skills
Inass sang “Youm leek”
Mr Fouad Fadel thought that Inass was not as good as everytime and that her performance was just normal.

Then finally Diala gave her opinion about the students eval;
She named the three worst students -in her opinion- : Noura, Nazem, and Serag

Madam Mary thought that Nazem’s voice is strong but he still needs training to be able to use it better.

yahia-and-basma-second-evaluation-togetherBasma sang “Ana Lamma Bshoufak” while Yahia sang “Ana Albi Elaik”
Wadi thought that Basma’s voice is beautiful but she still has a problem in pronouncing the lyrics.
Michel Fadel thought that Yahia scared him while performing this song, and that he screamed his voice out while singing.
Wadi thought that Yahia’s voice is tired and he should deal with this problem.

Wadi thought that Diala has a nice voice but the problem was that she doesn’t know how to control it yet

Nasser and Zaher.. Impressive

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

Well, those two have done something extremely genuine and original at this evaluation. I have no clue if the teachers would find it as impressing as I did, but it was absolutely one of a kind!

Zaher started with singing a french song along while playing his guitar an Nasser translated the feelings of this sad tune by moving his body and then curling on the ground in a fetus-like status. I like that just seconds after Zaher finished his turn, Nasser started his Arabic rap song about “his own birth out of his mother womb”. It was a metaphoric sketch and I can’t wait to hear the teacher’s judgment.

Is it a new Love Story?

yahia-and-basma-second-evaluation

Yahia from Jordan and Basma from Morocco sing together at the second LBC Star academy season 6 evaluation. These two are noted to be together almost all the time and accordingly chose to sing together infront of the teachers. Yahia seemed very sincere while singing “Ana Albi 3laik” and looking Basma in the eye. What’s the story there? Does anyone feel that it is more than just a normal friendly relation? or is it just me?

Tania and Noura team-together

noura-and-tania-second-evaluation

Noura and Tania decide to do their evaluation together infront of the teachers. Both of the grils sang a love-related song. Tania chose “Fi youm w laila” while Noura chose “3ash2a o ghalbana”. I wonder why Noura insists on playing the macho role all the time, although she looks pretty cute when she is on the stage and singing with full makeup! Anyways, we will be updating you on what each teacher says about all the students.
